Storyline
The soldiers on the Buster Call ships outside Enie’s lobby take the news of Rob Lucci’s defeat to Luffy demoralized, thinking the current CP9 was the strongest ever, while the Straw Hats, beset on all sides by naval captains, take the news differently individually. Nami immediately calls the crew together so they can sail off with the escape ship where Chimney, Gonbe, Granny Kokoro and Chopper are already waiting.
From a Den-den Mushi comes the cheering of the Franky Family (missing in action at this point) who, along with the giants and the boys of the Galley-La, have survived the fall into the abyss, contrary to Vice Admiral Strawberry’s expectations. They are all hanging from improvised shrouds made of Galley-La ropes that Paulie attached to the edge of the island at the very last moment. They report no casualties, and that they will now make a run for it. Franky howls with emotion until Zoro makes it clear to him that there is no point in him dying in battle now.
Vice Admiral Onigumo decides that the priority at the moment is to destroy the Straw Hat gang around Nico Robin, who have continued their fight against the Navy after the good news, and also has his lookout report over the loudspeaker snail that Luffy also seems to be mortally wounded, as he hasn’t moved yet, which shocks the Straw Hats, who have also heard the news. Usopp immediately runs to the edge of the bridge and yells to the latter to hurry up and come over to them. But the Straw Hat Captain is just as immobilized as Chopper due to the overuse of his body.
Nami therefore orders everyone to the escape ship. Since Luffy can’t move, they just want to bring the ship to him. However, Momonga has seen through the Straw Hats’ plan and has destroyed the ship by firing cannonballs at it, which horrifies the others since Chopper, Gonbe, Chimney and Granny Kokoro were still on it and they now have no means of escape. Fortunately, however, the four were rescued by Sanji, who has not yet joined the fight against the captains, as he had some errands to run.
While the Navy captains are still trying to free the supposed hostages Chimney and Granny Kokoro, the remaining nine ships of the Buster Call take fire on the Bridge to the Gate of Justice. One of the Vice Admirals orders the first bridge pier, where Luffy and Lucci collapsed after their fight, to be fired upon.
Robin realizes she can’t pull Luffy across the water to her. All of the Straw Hats and their allies are cheering for Luffy to get up (partly via Den-den Mushi) when Usopp hears a familiar voice, but he can’t place it at the moment, which tells him to look down. Shortly after, the other Straw Hats hear the voice as well.
There are five seconds left before the tower Luffy is in is to be fired upon, when Usopp suddenly tells the others to jump into the sea, and asks Robin to throw Luffy into the sea with her arms. Zoro drives at Usopp that desperation won’t save the Straw Hats, but Usopp shouts that the Straw Hat Pirates has another member who has come to save everyone. There are two seconds left when Robin throws Luffy into the sea with her devil powers and the others follow him as well. The captains on the bridge wonder if the Straw Hats have lost their minds.
The Going Merry is already waiting under the bridge, calling the Straw Hats aboard with her voice and promising to take them home.
