CP9’s Mission Report, Part 12: Kalifa and Kumadori relax in street clothes after securing treatment for Lucci by smoking and shopping.
Storyline
Pascia, a dancer, is sold at the auction house for 7.2 million berry.
Meanwhile, Saint Charlos finally arrives at the auction house. He remarks that he’s already missed half the fun and makes this point about his slow riding slave. After kicking it, he orders that the riding slave be sold, as he no longer needs this worthless piece of trash.
In a conversation with his bodyguard, Charlos announces that he hopes to be able to buy a mermaid at auction if one were offered. The bodyguard thinks this is unlikely.
Charlos enters the auction hall with his entourage, which both Chopper and the Kid pirate gang take note of. Nami also recognizes Charlos, while Sanji notes that if they attacked him, they would turn an admiral against them. The Kid merely punishes Charlos with disregard.
Currently, a pirate captain named Lacuba is for sale with a 17 million berry bounty on his head. Disko praises him as the perfect “human horse”. While the presenter is still listing Lacuba’s merits, blood suddenly drips onto the floor in front of Lacuba and horror can be read from the reactions of the world’s aristocrats. Lacuba collapses. Disko utters a curse and interrupts the auction for a moment. While Nami wonders what happened, Sanji explains to her that the captain bit his own tongue to kill himself. He would rather die than end up a slave. Sanji judges that decision to be wise.
Chopper and Franky are worried about Camie, while Nami is just waiting to buy her back.
Backstage, a clerk examines the captain and finds him dead, which sends Disko into a rage. He orders the mermaid to be sold next, while Camie looks apathetically at the dead Lacuba.
On stage Disko then apologizes for Lacuba, who just had a bit of a nosebleed and then collapsed. He will no longer be for sale today.
Disko now moderates with superlatives Camie, who is introduced in a water ball. The audience is thrilled. Hatchan and Pappag call out to her while Nami prepares to climb Camie with the 200 million berries. Camie notices the Straw Hats and Hatchan and hopes they will rescue her. Meanwhile, Saint Charlos is speechless with joy. They really are selling a mermaid today. After a second of consideration, he offers 500 million berry for Camie! Nami is perplexed and the straw hats present look horrified. Silence falls, no one can raise that bid, while Nami just panics realizing she doesn’t have nearly that much money. Charlos’ father joins the latter and talks about this waste of money, noting that Charlos’ fish tank is already full of piranhas anyway. This doesn’t bother Charlos at all, though; after all, mermaids are supposed to be the fastest creatures underwater. Camie himself can’t hear anything from outside through the water sphere and screams for Hatchan.
Disko breaks the silence and repeats the bid of 500 million berry.
The Straw Hats, Hatchan and Pappag are now frantically discussing what to do. While Chopper and Sanji are clueless because they never thought the 200 million berries wouldn’t be enough, Hatchan realizes he must free Camie by force. This upsets Pappag because then Camie would explode through her collar. You would need the key to do this.
Disko now announces that Charlos is the buyer of Camie. Kid feels the whole event is a farce and is about to leave the auction hall when there is a loud bang that Luffy seems to be responsible for. Not only does the Kid wonder about this occurrence, but Disko and the World Nobles do as well, while Sanji realizes it’s Luffy.
Luffy now blames the Tobiuo Rider for not being able to land sensibly, while the Tobiuo Rider explains that well, this is a flying fish, and also instructed Luffy to crash straight into the auction house. Suddenly, Zoro is also standing in all the smoke, wondering why everyone was in such a hurry to get back to the Sunny. Kid recognizes Luffy, while Luffy sees Camie in the water ball. Luffy wants to rush right up to the stage, but Hatchan is able to stop him.
The audience wonders who the just arrived punks are. They guess pirates.
In order to stop Luffy and clear up the fact that Camie is wearing an exploding collar and you can’t just take her off the stage like that, Hatchan uses everything he can muster. These are all his arms, too, which sends the World Nobles into an uproar. A fish man!
While Luffy unflinchingly charges at Camie and security personnel confront him, the World Nobles are disgusted by Hatchan, whose skin color and arms make him a freak. Pappag advises Hatchan that they should leave so they don’t have to free Hatchan too. Nami is horrified to find that all the prejudice here continues. Meanwhile, Luffy is stuck in a cluster of guards when suddenly a shot rings out. He pauses as Camie and Pappag look on in horror at what has happened. Saint Charlos has shot Hatchan! The latter is now happy that he shot a fish-man and the audience is happy about this decision, while the Straw Hats look stunned. Camie is crying in her prison.
Charlos celebrates himself and notes that he caught a fish man himself, so this one won’t cost him anything. Luffy sees red and charges at Charlos. Hatchan grabs Luffy’s arm and tells him that under no circumstances should he attack a world aristocrat. He himself was a pirate and did bad things, so he might even deserve the bullet under some circumstances. He blames himself for this situation and calls himself useless for not being able to help.
Charlos is getting fed up with Hatchan’s talk and he points the gun at him again. Luffy gets in his way and goes for him as the audience looks on in amazement and the Kid wonders if Luffy is serious about what he’s about to do. That seems to be the case, as Luffy punches Charlos square in the face with all his might!
