Ahh… the Germa 66’s emotionless sea voyage report, part 20: “Meanwhile in Chocolat Town, Cacao Island”.
The entire town, including its inhabitants, was apparently iced over.
Storyline
The Open Sea: The Thousand Sunny has just been picked up by Dr. Vegapunk, which astonishes the Straw Hats present. As it turns out, however, the young woman is actually just “Punk-02”, aka “Lilith”, as Vegapunk has apparently split herself into several bodies. Lilith offers to spare the Straw Hat Pirates if they leave their valuables behind. After Nami directly refuses, Punk-02 reveals to her an entire horde of weapon-enhanced Sea Kings who have been lurking beneath the surface of the water, when she is suddenly hailed by “Punk-01” aka “Shaka”. The latter warns her to exercise restraint, as the sea kings wouldn’t stand a chance against the mighty band of an emperor. Instead, she should rather bring the pirates, as they are of interest. But then Zoro takes the floor, who apparently wants something from Vegapunk…
Meanwhile, on Egghead Island: Luffy, Chopper, Jinbe, and Jewelry Bonney have entered Vegapunk’s lab, with the latter revealing that she came here to talk to the scientist because he once turned Bartholomew Kuma into a cyborg. Now, she says, he’s just a living weapon and can’t remember anything, even though he’s none other than her father! The conversation is interrupted when the four reach a room full of futuristic machines, some of which turn out to be ultra-modern holograms. Then “Punk-05”, called “Atlas”, enters, who now also introduces himself to the intruders as Dr. Vegapunk…
Meanwhile on a CP0 ship: Rob Lucci, Kaku and Stussy sit together to discuss their current mission. This concerns the genius Vegapunk, who, as Kaku mentions, has split into 6 “satellites” representing the qualities of justice, malice, thinker, wisdom, greed and violence. The mission is now to bring a Seraphim in the shape of Bartholomew Kuma to Egghead, as he is apparently causing problems, to confiscate the research there and to kill all Vegapunks…!
Miscellaneous
- In the Weekly Shonen Jump version of this chapter, two mistakes crept in, as was announced on the official Twitter account. According to this, the number on Atlas’ clothes should be “05” and not “06” (according to the numbering on Kaku’s overview at the end of the chapter). In addition, the hair of the Seraphim in the form of Bartholomew Kuma was actually supposed to be white and not black.
Oda’s comment
I tried a miracle berry for the first time and ate a whole lemon. What the hell?! Lemons are delicious!
