Arabasta is rescued and Vivi has left the gang. Luffy and co. are back on the Grand Line when a stowaway makes himself known: Nico Robin has snuck aboard the The Going Merry and now demands to be accepted into the gang. Luffy accepts her into the gang, which no one else seems really happy about.
Suddenly, Nami’s log port points up. Robin says it’s pointing to the Sky Islands. Then suddenly a shipwreck falls from the sky. It’s the 400 year old St. Briss. While Luffy, Zoro and Sanji are diving for the shipwreck, the pirate Masira comes to claim the St. Briss. When the three divers resurface, they are nearly swallowed by a giant turtle, but make it to the The Going Merry in one piece. They have searched the wreck for information about Sky Island, but have found nothing but rubbish and a map of Sky Island “Skypiea”. Robin, however, has stolen an Eternal port to Jaya from Masira. Luffy decides to set course for this island.
The Straw Hat Pirates arrives in Mocktown, a town on Jaya. Luffy, Nami and Zoro check out the town and get into a fight with Bellamy, as he thinks they are dreamers and he detests dreamers. A short time later, they are back on their ship and decide to visit Mont Blanc Cricket, as Nami heard about him in a bar and it is said that only he knows the way to the Sky Islands. Cricket tells them that they need a South Bird to be able to reach Skypiea. While the gang searches for the bird in the jungle, Bellamy ambushes Cricket and his friends Masira and Shoujou. When the Straw Hat Pirates returns from the jungle with a South Bird, Luffy is beside himself and sets out to get revenge on Bellamy. In the ensuing fight, Luffy easily wins against Bellamy.
Scene change: The 7 Samurai, or rather three of them, Dracule Mihawk, Donquixote Doflamingo and Bartholomew Kuma, meet with representatives of the Navy in Mary Geoise to discuss the succession to Crocodile. Laffitte, who suddenly enters through the window, suggests Marshall D. Teach, alias Blackbeard.
The next day, after being repaired by Cricket, Masira and Shoujou, the Going Merry is ready to take to the skies. Blackbeard shows up, however, as he is after Luffy’s bounty, which is now 100,000,000 berries. Before he can reach the Straw Hats, however, they are carried into the sky to the King’s Cloud by a knock-up stream.
