The arc begins after the Straw Hat Pirates have departed from Water 7.
They encounter the Phoenix Pirates and later the Accino Family, which consists of bounty hunters. However, Don Accino is not only after the bounty from the Straw Hat Pirates, but also their flag, which they actually manage to steal.
Since the Accino Family also stole the flag from the Phoenix Pirates, after some back and forth, they agree to help the Straw Hat Pirates get their flag back. With combined forces and after some fighting, the Straw Hat Pirates and the Phoenix Pirates manage to get their flags back. Luffy and company say goodbye to their new friends, but promise to meet again in the New World. Luffy then sets course for the New World again with his crew.
